This site serves as a personal space for gathering and sharing reflections—a place where thought and practice intersect. While theology remains the central focus, you’ll also find traces of history, creative projects, and various endeavors that mark different seasons of study and exploration. It’s intended as a record of ideas and pursuits that shape the life of the mind, evolving with new additions and occasional updates across its main sections.
Military
Immediately after graduating from high school, I enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as an armament systems specialist on the F-15 fighter aircraft. Following extensive training across several states, I was deployed to Europe, where I held assignments in Germany, Italy, and other locations, traveling through numerous countries in the region. Much of that experience was spent on flight lines and maintenance pads — in chemical warfare gear, cockpits, fuselages, and missile jammer trucks, and occasionally in the air. Whether carrying missiles, loading charges, running diagnostics, servicing guns, testing cockpit systems, or performing the simplest polish work, those years marked a clear passage from adolescence into adulthood.
Outside of military life, I found adventure and balance in the outdoors — rock climbing in Luxembourg, hiking in Italy, biking in France, backpacking through Germany, mountain climbing in Switzerland, and skiing in Austria. Through those experiences, I began forming the life disciplines, analytical mindset, and a worldview that would take root and endure for a lifetime.
Engineering
After completing my military service, I pursued a degree in electrical engineering — a demanding five-year effort that laid the foundation for the years to come. Driven by a continued desire for growth, I later earned an MBA from Pepperdine University, complemented by additional coursework in various advanced technical disciplines.
Professionally, my work has long centered on electrical engineering and technical management. Both independently and within teams, I have guided numerous projects from concept to completion across analog and digital microelectronics — integrating hardware, software, and firmware into cohesive systems. My experience spans all stages of product development, particularly in printed circuit board assemblies that involve mechanical, electro-mechanical, and optical technologies.
Throughout my career, I have contributed to significant revenue growth, served clients and companies across multiple countries, and helped advance their technical and operational capabilities. I currently work at a large technology company, while also remaining personally active in the design and development of various electronic technologies — projects pursued out of drive and a continued interest in innovation.
Wilderness
Countless wild and beautiful places stir both wonder and reflection. To find your way in the wilderness is often to discover something deeper about life itself. Through the effort, risk, and solitude of exploration come moments of hardship, awe, and exhilaration — experiences that shape the soul and leave a lasting impression on anyone drawn to adventure. Many of the miles I’ve walked were spent in prayer or conversation with those I love, where silence and shared endurance revealed their own kind of meaning.
I have summited more than 140 peaks, from simple class-1 walk-ups to demanding class-5.11 technical ascents, never in pursuit of recognition, but for the pure experience of the climb. I’ve crossed the Sierra on foot from west to east, completed various mountaineering, backpacking, and wilderness training courses, and served with Sequoia Mountain Search & Rescue. This experience deepened my understanding of technical skill, humility, and teamwork. In recent years, my attention has shifted toward the landscapes of the Southwest and beyond, continuing my search for remote, unexplored places that still challenge and inspire.
Faithwalk
Years ago, while alone at a men’s conference on the open deck of Castle Mittersill in Austria, I found myself reflecting deeply on life’s direction. My heart’s desire then, as now, has been to love and serve God in a way that truly matters. In a brief but sincere prayer, I asked for His lasting presence and guidance — not merely to fulfill personal ambitions, but to live out the purpose He intends, even knowing I would sometimes stand in the way. Since that moment, I’ve learned to trust more fully in God’s leading and to hold the pressures of life with a lighter hand.
In time, that pursuit led me to earn a Master’s Degree in Biblical and Theological Studies from a respected university and seminary. Though it stands as another academic achievement, the true reward was the years spent studying Scripture and theology in depth — four years of rigorous, accredited coursework undertaken for one reason alone: to know God and His Word more intimately.
Final Thoughts
Whether it involves written reflections, places traveled, goals reached, or lessons learned, this site serves as a personal space to gather and share meaningful experiences with those who stop by from time to time. Here, I record influences, projects, and moments of growth — not as a showcase of accomplishments, but as glimpses along the path I’ve been given to walk. What you’ll find is a collection of memories and ideas that together provide context for the themes and pursuits that shape my life.
My story is not a record of personal achievement, but a testimony to God’s faithfulness. From serving in the U.S. Air Force on F-15 fighter aircraft to years spent designing and developing technologies as an engineer, from summiting mountain peaks and walking wilderness trails in prayer to completing a Master’s in Biblical and Theological Studies — every chapter reflects His providence more than my effort. The discipline of the military, the precision of engineering, and the endurance of the wilderness have each been tools through which God has formed in me an analytical mind, a Christ-centered faith, and a heart set on service. The journey I follow is not of my own design, but His, and my enduring desire is to trust Him, serve Him, and live for His glory.
James
