
The soft hues below are accentuated by the fire in the sky above. As the overcast clouds above burn off from the sun overhead, the sunlight fades and passes away. To withdraw and leave behind the darkness. To make way for the promise of a new day.
When the evening sky opens up, there is a state of wonder that comes as with scenes such as this. How the symphony and balance of light between heaven and earth unfold to hold you in place.
The Boole Tree is a lone survivor within the Converse Basin area of Sequoia National Forest. Surrounding it are the numerous exploited Sequoia’s that was logged many years ago.
At dusk, the clouds above the Sierra forest unfold and the sky above shines through in a brilliant display of solar hues. There’s a fire in the sky without the flames. The cast of fading color brings out the greatest drama in the Beetle Rock landscape of the Sierra.
As the morning mist of Yosemite Valley burns off the trees on the forest floor, you can not help but half expect to smell the odor charred bark or smoke. Here we stand in the presence of three states of matter. Here we see their transformation. It’s evaporation.
Falls that roar and begin their descent from high above can captivate the imagination. The force of the river shapes hardened surfaces and cleanses both body and soul. Among rivers throughout the Sierra, it is often that we only see a small segment of a rushing cascade to invite further exploration.
There’s something soothing and refreshing about being alongside a fast-moving stream. The sound of the water that cascades before you make a perfect place for contemplation and wonder. The formative nature of water carves its beautiful expression of matter between states.
